Now it is more than a year ago I left family Rodriguez and Bogotá and traveled home to Sweden. It was with tears and wistfulness I left that wounderful place and people and I regret that I didnt spend more time there than I did.

When I stayed in Mexico for almost half a year I wanted to do two things; see Colombia and move to China. I thought my spanish was pretty good and I wasn’t afraid that the language would be a problem. The only thing was that I thought if I went to Colombia, would I want to just leave everything there after just a month and travel all around the world to Beijing? I made the decision; Bogotá!

I must say that I only went to Colombia because of two things; first it is one of the most dangerous and places I could think of, second; It cant be that bad right?

I went there very determine that this would be a fun experience. But when I landed on the airport I was kind of afraid I had made a terrible misstake. I went out to find a taxidriver that was supposed to pick me up. No one was there until after 20 minutes when I was about to go to a hotel. He said he would drive me to my host family he did, the only thing was that he didn’t know where it was. So we circle around for half an hour in a kind of scary neighborhood until we found this little townhouse in the middle of Bogotá. A family welcomed me and showed me around. The family seemed nice but I didnt sleep very much the first night.

After getting to know the family I realized that I had been placed in the most warm, thoughtful and amazing family I have ever met. They where really interested in me and I really liked them. They treated me like a king and wanted to show me their city. We went for several Sunday trips in Bogotá just because they wanted to show me as much as possible.

I went to a school called Nueva Lengua and had four hours of classes every day. I wanted to do some volunteer work and after two weeks I finally found the agency Doctora Clown where I helped wit a lot of administrative work, I had english classes with the employees and I also went with them out to some hospitals to be doctor clowns. It was very fun and touching to see all the small kids at the hospitals having a laugh, despite the fact that they were very sick or hurt bad, we could make them laugh.

I went around and saw a lot of different stuff in Bogotá and also some things around, but I have certainly not seen Bogotá for the last time. If I have the opportunity to go back I will do it as soon as possible!
