My fist day in Bogotá has passed and I’m even more glad over my decision to go to Bogotá. Yesterday it was my host father Raphaels birthday. His whole family came over and we all had a nice dinner together. We ate a lot of new food for me, such as zucchini? soup, cow tongue and much more. All of it taste really good, but it was hard to eat the cow-tongue when I figure out what it was. Me and Philipe hand bought Raphael a bottle of wine, and I had brought a Mexican recipe book. I was really surprised of that and I think he liked it.
I thing I never have spoken so much Spanish in one day. The whole family was really nice and tried to talk to me all day. We hade some very good conversations and it was very interesting what a Colombian family talk about during parties like that. They are a very proud people of their country, and all their talk is about South America. Although they all where Colombian, we talked about Sweden and my opportunity to travel around the world. I almost felt bad of telling all the places I have been when most of their family didn’t even had been out of Colombia. Those really made me want to start my volunteer work here hand help this beautiful country with all of their opportunities. Another good thing about the Colombians is that their Spanish is very clear and easy to understand. It made me see and understand a lot of cultural differences with both Sweden and Mexican people.
Happening of the day: Raphael’s birthday, the food and real Colombian coffee!
